Investment Management

Investment Module - User Guide

1. Introduction 📝

The Investment module is a dedicated registry for managing the company’s financial assets, primarily Fixed Deposits (FDs), Bonds, and other term-based investments. It provides a structured way to track principal amounts, rates of interest (ROI), and maturity dates, ensuring the finance team never misses a renewal or redemption window.

â„šī¸

In the overall business flow:

  1. Records new Investment Certificates (Inception).
  2. Monitors Live vs. Matured statuses.
  3. Facilitates Renewals to maintain a continuous investment lifecycle.

Typically, this module is used by Treasury Managers, Finance Directors, and Compliance Officers.

2. Getting Started with Investment 🚀

Accessing the Module

Navigate to Investment Index. The dashboard is logically split into:

  • Live Investments: Active certificates currently earning interest.
  • Matured Investments: Certificates that have reached their end date and require action (Renewal or Redemption).

Core Masters

  1. Invest Bank Mst: Defines the banks or financial institutions where funds are placed.
  2. Invest Name Mst: Identifies the “Investors” (e.g., Company, specific Trust, or Partner).
  3. Invest Code Mst: Categorizes investments (e.g., FD, Mutual Fund, Bond).

3. Features & Benefits ✨

📅 Lifecycle Management

  • Maturity Monitoring: Automatically shifts records from “Live” to “Matured” worklists based on the End Date.
  • ROI Tracking: Record the interest rate at the time of inception for future yield analysis.
  • Maturity Value Calculation: Tracks the final expected payout (Principal + Interest) for liquidity planning.

🔄 Renewal Workflow

  • Seamless Rollover: Use the Investment Renew feature to create a new certificate based on a matured one. The system handles the new InvestNo assignment while preserving the history of the original funds.

📋 Reporting & Analysis

  • Consolidated Excel Export: Generates a multi-sheet Excel report containing both Live and Matured tabs with detailed financial breakdowns (Principal, ROI, Maturity).

4. Complete Flow 🔄

Record New Investment

  • System assigns a unique Invest No.
  • Link to the Investor, Bank, and Investment Code.
  • Input specific FD No / Details and Principal Amount.

Define Terms

  • Set the Start Date and End Date.
  • Input the ROI (%) and expected Maturity Amount.
  • Add relevant Notes (e.g., lien against bank guarantee).

Manage & Renew

  • Periodically check the Matured tab.
  • For rollover, trigger the Renew action.
  • Update new ROI and End Dates as per the renewed certificate.

5. Validations and Logic âš ī¸

Integrity Checks

  • Duplicate FD Prevention: The system strictly prohibits creating two “Live” investments with the same Invest Details (FD Number). This prevents double-counting of assets.
  • Table Capacity Guard: Masters for Bank, Name, and Codes are capped at 999 records to ensure high-performance indexing.
  • Deletion Safety: You cannot delete a Master record (Bank/Code/Investor) if it is currently linked to any active investment record in the database.

Date & Financial Logic

  • Chronological Order: End Date must always be later than the Start Date.
  • Status Toggling: A record is considered “Live” (L) or “Matured” (M) based on its status field, which informs all financial reports.

6. Related Reports 📊

  • 💹 Investment (Live) Report: List of all capital currently deployed, sorted by Bank/Maturity date.
  • ⌛ Investment (Matured) Report: Actionable list of certificates pending redemption or renewal.
  • 📉 Yield Summary: Analysis of ROI across different banks and investors.

7. Best Practices / Tips 💡

  • Lien Documentation: Use the Notes field to document if an FD is under lien (blocked) by a bank for an LC (Letter of Credit) or BG (Bank Guarantee).
  • Regular Audits: Cross-reference the “Live” report with actual bank balance sheets monthly to ensure interest accruals or mid-term liquidations are updated.
  • Investor Names: If the company has multiple sister units, use the Invest Name Mst to clearly separate whose funds are being invested.
